One of the biggest hurdles is getting them over the fear of pressing the wrong button. Most software now has undo buttons so the results are rarely catastrophic.

Also letting them know that if it doesn't work it is not necessarily their fault. Glitches are a part of modern technological life. We all have to deal with them.

This is so hard, I can sympathise. I once had to teach an 80 year old to use the internet. It was hard work and every week I used to have to start from the beginning again. He did make some improvements, but it was hard going.
