I've been complaining for ages about the frustrations Canadians face trying to shop online. So often you find great products, only to discover they are only available in the US. I've been researching ways to develop a great search engine that would help Canadians find what products are really available in Canada and what they really cost. Turns out a group of recent University of Waterloo grads beat me to it. And they seem to be doing a great job!
Check out wishabi.ca. What is very cool about what they are doing is that they not only report "all in" pricing (i.e. including shipping, duties, etc.) but they look at the historical record and advise you, based on that, when it is a good time to buy. Based on their recommendations, I found myself a great deal on a new MacBook -- something I'd hesitated to buy previously because of the cost.
The other brilliant aspect of what they are doing is that they are using social networking to keep their list of deals current. People earn points and monthly cash prizes for finding and posting real deals.
Now they just need to figure out how to make money at this, without letting bias creep in. I really hope they succeed!

Cool site! I like how they show case the final Canada price for cross-border shopping. A few deals that I clicked through are wrong though so some work may be needed to improve the accuracy, but I like what I see so far, thanks for finding it!
