Microsoft CMS User Guide - Intergen
I've been doing some contract work for a non-profit organization that has been struggling with a Microsoft CMS implementation. We've been trying to find a user-manual that would be helpful for staff who have limited computer experience. I stumbled across a guide written by http://www.intergen.net.nz/ . It takes things to a very basic user level, starting off by explaining how Internet Explorer works. We probably didn't need to go quite that basic, but I was impressed by this company's focus on usability. (Also at their generosity, when they heard that this was a worthy cause.)

data visualization
I just came across this wonderful talk by Hans Rosling, demonstrating software that has been developed through gapminder.org to "liberate and animate" the hoards of data held in data repositories such as the UN. Well worth watching, both as a lesson on statistics and as a demo of the power of good software.
